Ruben

Fox

Musician. Composer. Mentor.

Hailing from Brixton, South London, Ruben Fox is a compelling presence on the international jazz scene recognized for the quality of his tone, the emotional sensitivity of his playing, and the narrative depth of his compositional work. Fox was mentored by jazz icons Wynton Marsalis and George Coleman, and balances his own artistic work with performances alongside global voices like Jon Batiste and Olivia Dean. Beyond the stage, he continues his father’s legacy as a dedicated educator and tutor for Kinetika Bloco, co-directing an annual summer program in London that empowers the next generation of musicians through the study and performance of carnival music.

LATEST ALBUM

IN TWO MINDS

WITH MICAH THOMAS

A duo is a special type of situation as when engaging within the musical framework, one can enjoy a true conversation in musical terms. It has always been a joy to have said conversations with Micah.

Micah is a genuinely kind person; devastatingly intelligent and playfully witty, he is a deep thinker and a dedicated believer. When he plays the piano you can hear, not only the history of the instrument, but the workings of a diversly creative mind. He listens attentively and interacts honestly.

We used to play duos often when we were at Juilliard together and we recorded this album on a whim. 3 hours at Chris Pattishal’s apartment on a hot summer’s day in the Heights. We just showed up and played and it was beautiful.
